High torque geared starters offer many advantages over the typical starter found on most of the classic and kit cars. Around twice as powerful so they run faster and start the engine regardless of temperature or compression. They draw about half the current of a typical starter putting less strain on the battery and starting when the battery is in lower condition. Weight can be reduced up to 50% from conventional starters. The starters are mostly smaller and easier to fit then the standard motor. We offer a wide range of replacement starters from the Mini to the Rolls Royce all of which are direct bolt on replacements requiring no modification to wiring or fitting. Some of the starters regularly fitted to race cars come with adjustable mounting flanges so they can be rotated to avoid specialist equipment, special chassis rails or other obstructions fitted to none standard cars. If you have special requirements, most starters can be modified to fit special installations for a small extra charge. To ensure quality and reliability in our starters, we take a standard, steel geared, gearbox and motor and strip it down to check every component. Modifications are made to improve the internals such as plating of the solenoid terminals and after rebuilding with the new mounting flange, reverse engineered from a standard starter, we test every unit under load. Constant starting problems are probably one of the most frustrating irritations of owning a classic car and if you race your car and it will not start mid-race it can completely ruin your day, but it is easily overcome.
